Who are we?

AudioTelligence is a small company located in the heart of the Cambridge tech ecosystem which really punches above its weight. We have amazing technology with a real ‘wow’ factor, a team of smart, friendly and committed people and management with the vision and drive to create a successful and sustainable company.

What do we do?

We lead the world in blind audio signal separation from multi-microphone audio. Our ground-breaking algorithms transform the clarity and intelligibility of speech in noisy environments, focussing on the sound source of interest and getting rid of interfering sources. We’ve developed solutions for the mobile, conferencing and hearing assistance markets and we’re not stopping there – our tech has applications for many different use cases and devices. Check out our technology portfolio here.

We’ve also developed a prototype device based on our software which is designed to allow people with mild hearing loss to follow conversations around them in noisy cafés, bars and restaurants.  It’s the embodiment of our passion for providing solutions that change people’s lives. Don’t just take our word for it – see what real people thought when we asked them to test our technology. Watch the video here.

But we’re not just about our existing technology: we’re constantly creating new innovative algorithms and software solutions to satisfy our customers’ need for crystal clear audio in a wide range of situations and use cases.

What’s it like working at AudioTelligence?

We’re a friendly, informal and inclusive team, who value everyone’s contribution. Things move fast here – we have to be flexible and responsive to our markets and customers, so the work is demanding but it’s also very rewarding when we see the tech we’ve developed go into real products.

Our office is on Cambridge University’s West Campus, close to the University Sports Centre and the new West Hub which has cafés and a bar. Buses from the city centre stop just outside our office. We currently have a hybrid working model of 2 days in the office, 3 working at home. At the moment, the whole software team gets together in the office on Monday and Tuesday; you can work from home or choose to come into the office, as you like, between Wednesday and Friday.

We’re looking for another Software Engineer to join our team. We need someone who cares about software excellence and who’s keen to see the tech they’ve helped to develop being used in real products. This is a great career opportunity for an engineer with some previous commercial experience and good coding skills to work on really challenging technology, learn new skills and develop their career in one of Cambridge’s most exciting start-ups.

About You

Working in a small team, you’ll be helping to integrate our API into a variety of different products, varying from hearing devices, smartphones and TVs to servers,  as well as contributing to the development of new products. The code base is primarily C++ 14; but there is also the opportunity to work in wider Android and Python ecosystems from time to time.  You don’t need previous experience within audio – although of course that would be great – but you do need to be genuinely interested in what we’re doing here.

You need to have:
  • experience of working to customer requirements
  • excellent modern C++
  • familiarity with CMake
  • experience of software coding in a commercial company
  • demonstrable ability to produce clear, well structured, robust and algorithmically efficient code
  • experience of development on Linux
  • excellent written communication skills
It would be great if you have worked with any of these:
  • Jenkins pipelines
  • Version control using Git
  • Confluence/Jira
  • Android and Kotlin
  • embedded programming, for example on Raspberry Pi

It’s important that you’re happy working in a small team in a fast-moving startup environment, where every day brings new challenges and where we work hard but also try to have some fun along the way. It’s also important that you’ll be happy to live our company values in your career with us. You can find our company values here

We offer competitive salaries and real opportunities for career development.

  • Holidays: 25 working days plus bank holidays
  • Private health care
  • Flexible working hours as well as hybrid working
  • Share option scheme: we all have a genuine stake in the success of the company.

AudioTelligence is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
